Along the year of 2007, the vines suffered because of some bad weather conditions, what caused some phytosanitary problems. For instance, the spring and summer of this year were not so hot than they used to be. Therefore, the Adega Coop. Borba received fewer grapes (in quantity) than in last years.

The months of July and August were relatively good in the region creating auspicious conditions for a good and gradual development of sugars, colour, anthocyans and polifens, mainly in the red grapes, with a satisfying acidity level. During the grapes harvest, the rain caused light delay in the final maturation of the grapes in some vineyards.

Regarding the wines of 2007 in preparation, the consumer can expect wines of quality, smooth, aromatic, fruity and well-balanced between tannins and freshness. More specifically for the wines of our medium to top range, they should be structured, full-bodied, elegant and persistent, with a particular character to mature slowly in our cellar.


In the Adega Coop. Borba, the preparation of Christmas began very early and is synonym of rigor but also of pleasure, the rigor because of the exigency to introduce to our customers the new products in September and to have some available stock already in October, and the pleasure by the creation of new images, special packagings (in wood and pasteboard, or by selecting some special wine blends.

So Christmas is for us a real challenge each year in terms of imagination to create and participate thanks to our wines or special packaging to some happiness and pleasure during the Christmas celebration.

The oenology did not yet seduce a lot of women that the engineer Maria João Rosado had already token up the challenge! Now she is responsible for the bottling coordination of all wines which the Adega Coop. Borba sends to the national as well international markets. She manages also all the stocks.

All along the year, she collaborates also in the managing of the productive process, from the vinification to the final wine blendings. She belongs to the team for the food safety as direction manager for the quality and guarantees the right application of the procedures concerning the quality and food safety certification ISO 9001:2000 and 22000:2005 obtained in July 2007.
